• Dear Ridgecrest Families:

Aristotle once said that “Good habits formed in youth make all the difference.” Our primary responsibility as educators is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to be successful in school and into their post-secondary education. We believe in teaching the whole child: cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.  This year we are pleased to inform you that we have adopted a new social-emotional curriculum called Second Steps.  You can learn more about Second Steps by watching a short video about the program:

As parents and guardians, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. As educators, we want to come alongside you and reinforce the values and behaviors you are teaching your children.  This curriculum allows students to learn empathy, emotion-management, and problem-solving skills.  In addition to the Second Steps Curriculum, teachers are also conducting Classroom Meetings and providing students with a “Take a Break” area where students can learn how to calm themselves and self-regulate.  These social-emotional supports are also part of a system of behavioral interventions and supports we are providing this year to help all students grow and achieve more.

We want you to know that we value the relationships we have with our families and community.  Please feel free to email or call anytime to ask questions, provide feedback, or lend a hand.  We want to form strong partnerships in the days and years to come!

    In service,

    Michelle Fox
